The journey of 26.2 miles begins with a single step (Take 2)

One of my New Year's Resolutions to run a marathon.  I started training for one in 2008, but I got a stress fracture after a half-marathon and then I was pregnant with Miss Banana and then life was too crazy to commit to a marathon.  I probably should have stuck with it--it would have been a nice stress reliever--but I didn't, so now it's time to try again!

I pulled out the treadmill tonight, pulled the year-and-a-half-old-brand new running shoes out of the closet (I got them right before my stress fracture) and did my first 3 miles of training.

And it felt SOO good!  I can't wait to go outside for some nice road runs!

Running, my dear friend, I have missed you!!

So happy for you. You must be excited to train. I used to run for a couple of years with my sister. We loved it. I tried to do a half but couldn't make it at the time. My body wouldn't go. I still love to watch people run and who know's maybe I will join you one day on your goal. Do you love the runners high? Way to go I think that's a great goal

That's awesome Carrie! One of my goals this year is to run a 5K. Not quite a marathon, but huge for me since I ran that for the first time last fall.

Good luck to you!

Yay! I'm training for a half and it's kicking my butt. Who would've ever thought I'd be runner?! Hope all goes well with your training :)

A week ago, on-the-fly, I signed up for the Lincoln half-marathon for the 1st weekend in May. My rationale is that having the time limit will motivate me to get in shape & not skimp on my workouts. Good luck to you!

Go Carrie! I have wanted to even do a half but it seems like most of them here in the area are on Sundays...not a good thing. Nothing like running on the open road!

I know I keep saying it but I really am so excited for you--training and running a marathon is such a great experience. That's great that you have a treadmill do you usually do your shorter runs on that and do long runs outside when daddy is home with the kiddos?

and it's so true that having a training plan/upcoming race helps you to be motivated and do the running. I need to start a new plan, I've been slacking since my marathon in October!! you are motivating me to get a plan for my next race :)

Way to go Carrie!!I'm aiming for a 1/2 within the year...not sure if I quite have the desire to do a full one. You're such an inspiration!

Man, you're already up to 3!?! I'm panting so hard at 2 1/2 that that is as far as I've gone so far, so I'm jealous!
