My running dreams for this year are over

A lot of you already know this, but for those of you who don't--I've had to say a sad, sad good-bye to my marathon hopes for this year. Remember that half-marathon I did? Well, I bought a new pair of shoes a week or so before that, and apparently they were defective (shoes can be defective?!??) and after putting 50-60 miles on them, they created a stress fracture in my shin. Nice, huh? The upside is that my foot has healed from the foot-smashing incident. Downside? The doctor said there is nothing I could do for this except give it 6-9 months off of any sort of impact sport. What a letdown! I had been working really hard and consistently and now I don't have anything to show for it. Who knew something that was supposed to make you feel good could be so depressing?

Hey Carrie,

This is Rebecca (Reid)Lynn. I found your blog off of Lisa's site, I hope you don't mind. It's been a few years since we all hung out in Columbia, but I really enjoyed those times.

I can't believe how grown up Tate is and I never got to meet Rylan. He's a cutie.

Sorry to hear about your marathon training. That's awesome you were training for it. I was just excited to get on the tread mill yesterday for 20 min--I won't tell you how long it had been before that! (:

Carrie! After all your hard work!! That is sooo crappy. I'm sorry. Your motivation is what got me running again! That is really a bad deal. Maybe you could take up swimming? I've started swimming again, and it is TOUGH! I need to give you a call later-
